As per Github Copilot (which autocompleted my previous sentence), “This is a known issue with the CLIP model, and is a result of the model being trained on a dataset that included a lot of images with watermarks. The model has learned to associate these watermarks with the objects in the images, and so when it is asked to generate an image of a whale, it will often include a little X watermark in the image”.
